Business Management Practices (DPT-0814)

This course provides an overview of practice management fundamentals and applies these principles to various aspects of leadership and business operations as they relate to the practice of physical therapy. Students will gain knowledge of health care management, leadership, organizational structures, clinical administration, and fiscal management as they relate to the practice of physical therapy. Students are exposed to general business principles and practical applications to help a healthcare practice or system build a strategic and sustained competitive advantage in the marketplace. There is a specific focus on healthcare business management, understanding payer relationships, diagnostic coding, current procedural terminology, clinical productivity, and financial performance. The course will prepare students to be stewards of fiscal responsibility in the field of physical therapy.
