Voices of France: Middle Ages to the Enlightenment (FR-0031)

Examination of how social, political, and cultural forces influenced French thought, language, and identity from the 12th to 18th centuries. Analysis of literary texts and cultural artifacts to explore broader historical developments, such as the evolution of ideas about reason, individualism, and progress. Comprehensive understanding of the intellectual and cultural foundations that shaped modern France. Not for students returning from programs abroad.
