Point-set Topology (MATH-0171)

Introduction to the basic definitions and constructions of topology, with a goal of providing ideas and tools that are essential for further study of many branches of modern mathematics. The definition of a topological space, examples of topological spaces, continuous functions, compactness, connectedness, and separability. Other topics may include homeomorphisms, subspaces, the quotient topology, and countability axioms. Prerequisite: MATH 0065 or permission of instructor.
