Intro to Sound: Sound Arts (MDIA-0061)

Introductory studio course explores Sound from multiple approaches and perspectives. Create projects in the genres of Sound Art, radio, sound installation, podcasting, field recording, sound for moving image, or sound design. Learn how to use digital audio software for recording, editing, audio effects, mixing, and mastering. Explore sound artistically: sound in space, sound and the body, sound as a narrative medium. Practical group activities, collective listening sessions, seminar discussions, and student presentations. Small weekly assignments leading to a larger final project. No experience is necessary. Open to all levels. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
