Painting and Installation (PAI-0123)

Expands the physical range of drawing in relationship to place, space, and viewers. Explores strategies for working at large scale, in traditional media and temporal installation-based approaches. Three core projects: large format figure drawing, non-traditional media (projections, found objects, mist, dirt or sound) and collaborative or intervention-based situations. Consider a broad range of material, technical and conceptual options with the goal of broadening understanding of what drawing is and can be. Opportunities to build professional skills in crafting language, proposing, presenting and documenting projects. For intermediate and advanced level students. Non-SMFA students will receive a letter grade.
