Race, Caste, and Capitalism (SOC-0074)

Investigation of the concepts of race, caste, and capitalism in relation to each other, with a focus on the Global South–especially India and South Africa. Introduction to key thinkers who have explored the intersections of these three categories. Additional themes include gender, labor market discrimination, political parties, affirmative action, internationalism, and colonialism. Recommendation: SOC 1 or SOC 103.
