Performance for Social Change (CVS-0085)

Approaches theatre, dance, film and the multi-media arts through a performance studies and social justice lens to consider how change, critique, and community building occur at local and national levels. Analyzing and understanding gestures, movements, visual and spatial design when engaging with justice movements to see how the arts are central to political action. Gain insights into the lineages between the arts and historical social movements, including traditions of theatre for social change, protests as choreography, and rehearsals for social intervention. Open to first-year students.
