Contemporary policies and laws affecting American Indians in the United States. Reviews the history of U.S.–tribal relations and legal and planning issues in civil and criminal jurisdiction, as well as environmental and land-use regulation on and off the Reservation. Emphasis on the allocation of authority among tribal governments, the federal government, and state and local governments, with attention to planning implications.
