Theories of Behavior Change (NUTB-0211)

This course explores the theories of behavior change most commonly used in nutrition and public health. Includes an examination of several individual-based, social-based, organization-based and eco-social theories, including the Health Belief Model, the Theory of Planned Behavior, the Trans-theoretical Model, Decision-Making, Social Support, Social Learning Theory, and Diffusion of Innovations. Understanding and being able to apply these theories will help researchers and practitioners design program interventions based on psychological, biological, social, cultural and organizational frameworks. Pre-requisite: Nutrition. Summer 2026 NOTE- There is a required residency portion of this class taking place 6/2-6/4 from 8:00am-12:00pm. If students are unable to participate in Boston, they will need to participate via Zoom during scheduled class time.
