Evaluation of Health Programs (PH-0285)

Summer 2026 · PH 0285 · Tufts University · 3 credits · Undergraduate

This course introduces students to evaluation of public health promotion programs and policies. Evaluation is an invaluable tool in the practice of public health promotion which empowers communities to examine programs and policies for their effectiveness, accessibility, and quality. Evaluation tells us whether our interventions - both programs and policies - improve health, for whom, and under what circumstances. Evaluations also reveal when interventions do not work, do not reach those in need, and are affected by external forces. Evaluation findings enable the health planner and program developer to build better, more responsive, and more equitable interventions. Combined with research and quality improvement, evaluation completes a set of very powerful tools that public health practitioners can use together in a cycle to enable and sustain healthier communities.
