Ethnography for Policy and Planning (ANTH-0187)

Introduction to ethnography and how qualitative, embedded, and socially committed research can critically and constructively contribute to addressing urban spaces and lead to just policymaking. Reading of ethnographic texts on urban and environmental issues. Practicing ethnographic and other qualitative research methods (for example participant observation, in-depth interviewing, material culture analysis, and archival, discourse, and media analysis). Students design and execute original research projects. Enrollment preference is given to UEP graduate students. Instructor permission required for Undergraduate students.
