Functioning of the human body during acute and chronic exercise. Integration of fundamental concepts in functional anatomy and physiology with current knowledge on exercise. Anatomy of musculature associated with physical exertion; physiology of muscle systems; cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous systems pertaining to the physical movement; and energetics of exercise. Emphasis on the impact of environmental factors, performance enhancers, and gender differences on performance (Group B: Biology of Organisms). Prerequisites: BIO 0013 and BIO 0014, or graduate standing.
