Biophysics of Macromolecules (BIO-0156)

Fall 2026 · BIO 0156 · Tufts University · 3 credits · Undergraduate

Biophysical properties of proteins and macromolecules as they relate to biology, biochemistry, medicine, and biomedical engineering. Physical rules that govern protein structure and function, protein folding and stability, and ligand binding. How tools of spectroscopy, kinetics, and thermodynamics can be applied to these concepts and lead to new mechanisms of function. Fulfills the group A requirement for the Biology major, and satisfies an elective for the Biochemistry and Biotechnology major. Prerequisites: BIO 13 or BME 33, PHY 1 or PHY 11, and BIO 152 or CHEM 171, or graduate standing or instructor consent.
