Applied Probability and Data Analysis in CEE Systems (CEE-0201)

Fall 2026 · CEE 0201 · Tufts University · 3 credits · Undergraduate

Foundational treatment of probability, statistical inference, and prediction for small or censored datasets from asymmetric, heavy-tailed distributions for which standard statistical procedures are inappropriate. Emphasis on CEE applications like natural hazard analyses and modeling censored observational data. Probability theory, Monte Carlo analysis, statistical prediction, and probability distributions commonly used to model natural hazards. Additional topics related to CEE data analysis can be covered based on student interests. It is recommended that students have taken undergraduate statistics and calculus before enrolling.
