The Orthodontic Techniques and Appliances course is designed to develop orthodontic residents’ competence in diagnosis, treatment planning, and the selection and application of orthodontic appliances in accordance with CODA standards for advanced dental education. The course integrates foundational knowledge, clinical application, and evidence-based decision-making to support progressive competency development. Through interactive seminars and case-based discussions, residents will systematically collect and interpret diagnostic records, synthesize clinical findings, and develop comprehensive, patient-centered treatment plans. Instruction emphasizes the biomechanical principles governing fixed, removable, and functional appliances, with application to a variety of malocclusions and clinical scenarios.
