Dance and Environment (DNC-0172)

Explore how we experience, interact with, and construct our understanding of environment, whether it be natural or engineered, through dance. Areas of inquiry include: activation of site-specific environment; the translation of internal responses to external topography and landscape; and the inter-relationship of science and the arts in enhancing environmental awareness, activism, and empathy. Assignments include weekly indoor and outdoor movement experiences, and independent and collaborative reading, viewing, and research projects. Recommendation: DNC 71, but no dance and/or environmental science experience required.
