Management of Complex Patients (DPT-0524)

This course builds on the student’s clinical decision-making skills from the practice management courses to address the needs of a medically complex patient across the continuum of care. This course will emphasize integration of clinical findings from medical screening, systems review, and tests and measures across the lifespan for patients with primary disease or comorbidities of the cardiovascular, endocrine, metabolic, gastrointestinal, genital and reproductive, hematologic, hepatic and biliary, immune, integumentary, lymphatic, musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, renal and urologic systems. Referral and consultation with other healthcare providers will be discussed. Onsite lab experiences are focused on the development and evaluation of patient management skills related to the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients with medically complex conditions.
