Management of the Complex Patient (DPT-0620)

This course builds on the student’s clinical decision-making skills from the practice management courses to address the needs of a medically complex patient across the continuum of care. This course will emphasize integration of clinical findings from medical screening, systems review, and tests and measures across the lifespan for patients with primary disease or comorbidities of the cardiovascular, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, metabolic, and integumentary systems. Direct access, referral, consultation with other healthcare providers will be discussed. This course will also emphasize the therapist’s role in managing patients with integumentary and lymphatic conditions.
