Primary Care (DPT-0621)

This course aims to improve students' understanding of the physical therapist's role as an interdependent primary care practitioner working within a collaborative medical model. Students will advance their application of clinical tools and decision-making processes to effectively and efficiently collect, evaluate, and communicate examination data while performing differential diagnosis and critical thinking on complex patient presentations. The course integrates concepts of diagnostic testing and imaging including rationale and guidelines for selection, and appropriate referral processes. Students demonstrate advanced screening techniques and clinical reasoning through case-based clinical scenarios.
