Writing course for visual artists which makes textuality a vital part of a visual arts practice to create confidence and enthusiasm for hybridizing. The class ethos is that expressive excitement in one medium can readily be transmitted to another. Use contact with writing by visual artists that may include Frida Kahlo, John Cage, Yoko Ono, Lorraine O’Grady, and LaToya Ruby Frazier to create prompts that require text, image, and other media such as video and sound in pursuit of hybrid work that animates an existing visual arts practice.
