History & Politics of Typography (GRA-0179)

From Garamond to Helvetica, typography has, by default, a Eurocentric history. Chronological history and the cultural and political ideologies of typography. Does the typeface Canada 150 represent decoloniality in the way the typeface Didot embodied the ideas of the Enlightenment and the typeface Futura embodied the ideology of Fascism? Recreate a new narrative with studio work that includes vernacular lettering and personal histories to design textual images, branding, and public proposals for architectural space. Photoshop experience is recommended.
