The Rashomon Effect (MDIA-0167)

Intermediate-level studio seminar on non-standard strategies for creating narratives with moving images and sound, including portrait, self-portrait, diary, reenactment, second-person and unreliable narration. Tell stories with sound and image, using techniques of audio and video editing, found footage, voice over, still image films, desktop films. Map nonlinear chronologies, nested narratives, the Rashomon effect, and other unusual audiovisual storytelling modes. No experience necessary. Intermediate Level. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade. Prerequisites: sophomore standing and above.
