Develop paintings from a variety of source materials including methods for image generation (collage - digital and physical, drawing, image banking), and translation to canvas or similar surface. Demonstrations include revisions using Procreate, transferring images through printing and tracing, experimentation with different substrates, and extended techniques in oil and acrylic painting. Open to representation, abstraction, and combinations thereof. Students develop a theme throughout their work in this class, while maintaining an open and experimental attitude. Students learn extensive new information on materials and techniques, as well as an independent body of work. Non-SMFA students and MAT Art Education students will receive a letter grade.
