Figure Painting (PAIM-0002)

Fundamentals of basic human proportion, gesture, paint application and color mixing. Learning to convey what is unique and individual about each person and painting. Class exercises, critiques, and demonstrations help students develop skills, and convey narratives and ideas. Work observationally from models in class, as well as abstracting from photography, and using own source material. Explore the pluralistic state of contemporary figuration through readings, critical viewings. Best suited to students with previous instruction in painting or figure drawing.
