Consulting Skills for Healthcare and Public Health (PH-0299)

Fall 2026 · PH 0299 · Tufts University · 1.5 credits · Undergraduate

This skills-focused course introduces students to the core tools and approaches used by consultants working in healthcare and public health settings. The course is grounded in a real-world consulting model, where students respond to a Request for Proposals and develop a structured, client-ready solution over the course of the semester. Each session focuses on a key consulting skill (e.g., problem framing, stakeholder analysis, work planning, budgeting, data synthesis, recommendation development, and executive communication) applied to a single, evolving case. Students learn how to move from an ambiguous problem to a clear set of actionable recommendations, while working within realistic constraints such as limited data, competing stakeholder priorities, and organizational complexity.
