Sociology of Drugs in America (SOC-0031)

Examination of the use, misuse, and regulation of drugs in the United States. Analysis of both legal medications and illicit “street” drugs, with attention to contemporary debates and dilemmas surrounding drug use, including the opioid crisis, emerging weight loss medications, and vaccines. Social, medical, and policy perspectives on drugs and their effects on individuals, communities, and society.
