Examines dynamics of power through an interdisciplinary approach that includes perspectives from philosophy, psychology, sociology, sociolinguistics, history, and politics. Explores a variety of literary genres (poetry, drama, and prose), other forms of art (film, photography, comics, music, etc.) and non-fiction texts (essays and news reports). Advances written and oral expression in Spanish, with focus on the development of fluency through informal live and online conversations with classmates and Spanish native speakers, oral presentations and active group discussions (mesas redondas). Reflects on grammar and vocabulary as needed for material analysis and course projects. Studies colloquial and dialectal expressions to amplify knowledge and use of colloquial Spanish. In Spanish.
