Foundation engineering design, with emphasis on bearing capacity and settlement for shallow (footings) and deep (pile) foundations. Design of footings, rafts, piles, and piers subjected to axial and lateral loads; building code requirements for design; and evaluation and selection of foundation types and alternatives.
