Privacy Policy

Last updated November 2026

This explains what aSIStant keeps about you and what we do with it. We do not sell your data.

What we store

  • Your account: your Tufts email address and a hashed (scrambled) version of your password. We never see or store your Tufts password. If you answer “How did you hear about aSIStant?” when signing up, we keep your answer too.
  • What you save: saved and hidden courses, schedules and carts you add, filter presets, dining favorites, hidden dishes and ratings, degree plans and the courses and credits you enter, and housing room designs and outlines.
  • Settings: things like your theme and whether you want the weekly dining email.
  • Basic technical data: logs and rate limits that include things like your IP address, so we can keep the site working and stop abuse.

If you import your Degree Progress file from SIS, it is read in your browser and only the courses and credits you confirm are saved.

Why we use it

To run the features you use, keep your account safe, send the emails you ask for, and fix and improve the site.

Emails

We email you to verify your address, to reset your password, and, if you turn it on, the weekly dining email. We may send occasional announcements and updates about aSIStant, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your theme and whether you are signed in across the course, dining and housing sites.

We use Google Analytics to count page views and see which features are used, so we know what to fix and improve. It sets its own cookies, shared across our three sites so one visit counts once. Besides the pages you open, it receives: which features you use (for example adding a course to your cart, applying a kind of filter, rating a dish or sharing a room design), whether you are signed in, how the getting-started checklist and tours go, error codes and slow pages. It never receives your email, name, password, what you type into search or filter boxes, or the contents of your notes, plans and designs. Course codes, dining halls and dorm names can be included, since they are public.

Who else sees it

Only you can see your saved data. Designs and calendars are visible to others only when you share a link. The site runs on hosting and email services that handle data for us, and we may share information if the law requires it. Course and ratings data comes from public sources, including SIS and Rate My Professors.

Your choices

You can edit or remove most of what you saved in the app. To delete your account and everything stored with it, or to ask what we hold about you, message us on Discord.
