Programming Design and Techniques (CS-0011)
Spring 2027 · CS 0011 · Tufts University · 4 credits · Undergraduate
Application of computational thinking to solve problems. Embodiment of solutions as algorithms, and encoding of those algorithms in the C++ language. Assessment of programs, including testing for functional correctness and evaluation of code quality. Basic program design, debugging techniques, and evaluation of algorithmic performance. Computational problem solving using programming constructs including data types, arrays, strings, pointers, dynamic memory allocation, reading and writing files, recursion, and an introduction to object-oriented programming. Basic use of a Unix-like command line, including compiling programs and basic commands that are useful when programming. Students who have completed CS 15 with a C- or better cannot subsequently earn credit for CS 11.
