Contemporary American Theatre (TPS-0110)

(Cross-list w/ AMER 139) 21st century theatre as both an art form and an industry. Readings and discussions of the way in which artists address political and social issues, consider theatre in relation to other forms of media, and experiment with artistic form. Artists may include Mimi Lien, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Lynn Nottage, Taylor Mac, Annie Baker, Sylvan Oswald, and Quiara Alegría Hudes. Visits to contemporary performances locally and class visits from artists working in theater, dance, and performance today.
